Paul McConkey Slalom WIN!

Very happy to bounce back from a disappointing European Championships with a convincing win in Nottingham at the Paul McConkey Memorial Slalom.

The race is held in Nottingham but is hosted by Stafford and Stone Canoe Club so there was a bit of club pride at stake. I hadn't won this event before until this weekend so it's great to finally get that win! I put quite a bit of pressure on myself to make it feel a bit more like an international start line and I definitely felt some of those pre-race nerves as a result, which is great! It can be hard to recreate that feeling when the race isn't a super important one. I wouldn't have been happy with anything other than a win so I'm very happy to have brought that trophy home!

Big shoutout to my clubmate Chris Bowers for taking the honours in the K1m class. He was FAST! and I believe that that is his first Premier Ranking slalom win so very well done to him!
