Selection was a much much tougher journey than I would've hoped for before racing. Valuable experience and relieved / proud to deliver on the last day when it really mattered to secure my place on the GB team yet again for the 2019 season!
So we're in the race! Selection for next year's Olympic games will be contested between myself, Ryan Westley, and David Florence with a three race series over the next 6 months...
ICF World Cup 1. Lee Valley White Water Centre, UK. 14-16 June.
ICF World Cup 5. Prague, Czech Republic. 06-08 September.
ICF World Championships. La Seu d'Urgell, Spain. 25-29 September.
Only one man can go... All three of us won medals in a more competitive field than an Olympic Games this year. The quality between us means whoever wins the spot is headed to Tokyo eyeing up the gold medal. A great problem for Team GB but a brutally tough situation for the three of us.
I have a really good feeling this year. I believe in it, and that's half the battle. Everyday I visualise myself crossing that finish line at the World Championships to qualify the spot. Willing to put it all out there this season and next year is gonna be some adventure either way.
